  •  Description of the winery

The field was born in the mid 18th century, it was then called "Fazilleau”. In the early 19th century, the Eglise Family sells it to a lawyer. The lawyer will rename the castle Evangile. In 1862, Paul Chaperon bought the property and built the castle we know today. The castle remained in family's hands until 1990, when Baron Eric de Rothschild bought it. This is a major milestone for the field, because then the castle benefits fom large investments, and technical skills of Baron Rothschild areas. The castle has a beautiful location, on the Pomerol plateau between Petrus and Cheval Blanc. The vineyard is currently 16 hectares and is located on a variety of soils clay mixed with dirt ferric clayey and clayey gravelly silicas. The vines are composed of 80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc. Since the 1990s, the estate produces a second wine "Blason de l’Evangile"
